Sunday April 5th, 2009 -
Chesapeake City, MD
NEW Arrival to the BOAS family - NOT maybe what you are thinking?
Well after the OBTAIN weekend, then the CLEANING weekend, we
finally got to the 'MAKE IT RUN' weekend.
It was a BEAUTIFUL Sunday here in Chesapeake City and we had the parts and some
trouble in the past,
but determined to accomplish the objective - 'MAKE IT RUN.'

See - not what you were thinking! This car belonged to Laci's father
Danny. He needed to remove the car from his property in Delaware.
Sooo, Edward and Laci borrowed my trailer and picked it up about a month ago -
there was no knowledge of the condition of the car
or it's ability to run. We were not even sure of the year - we are now!
This is a 1967 Mustang 289 Convertible automatic with 28K miles
on the odometer!

After LOTS of work on the cleaning of the car by Laci and Edward, we worked on
the carburetor. We got the overhaul kit and rebuilt
the carburetor. After some very detailed work, we got it done,
mounted, adjusted, and the car was running.

Of course, the car required a new gas tank, sending unit, fill tube and all new
mounting hardware. We had to replace all the hoses
for fuel lines. Lucky for us that
http://www.quantaproducts.com/home.asp is located in Rising Sun, MD - not
far from the College and I
picked up the new gas tanks and all our needs in one location.
Installation of the gas tank was pretty easy since the gas tank is the bottom of
the trunk.

YES, the hood is ajar. We had to remove the hood latch, glass bead it,
lube it and remount it properly so the hood would shut properly.
Hey - it's an old car that was kept outside - needs lots of TLC! - AND lots more
work and parts. The saga will continue!

Ernie offered to give us some moral support and Edward offered to give him a
ride - he would never pass up a ride in an old car.
Here is Edward and Ernie returning from a loop around the block behind the shop.

A quick shot of Ernie and Edward (driving) after their return trip. Hey -
is this an advertisement for Slim-fast or what!?
The work on the Mustang will CONTINUE . . .
Laci took some nice short videos of the first ride of the car around the shop
lot. Here are TWO choices.
Video ONE
Takes a moment to download - my rebuilt carburetors first
fire-up - doing it's thing!
Video TWO
Takes a moment to download - Starting a short cruise.
